Wickham Departs for Australia

Latest News

Plymouth Albion can confirm that Jack Wickham has left the club to head to Australia to play for the University of Western Australia.

An outstanding young player, Jack joined us in the summer from Saltash, and played superbly in friendlies against the Cornish Pirates.

He featured four times in league competition, making his debut against Cinderford in October before being involved in wins over Blackheath and Chinnor.

Having made six appearances on loan at Redruth, Jack’s development will now take him to Australia, with an option to return to Albion ahead of the 2024-25 season.

On Jack’s departure, Head Coach Ryan Lamb said: “I think Jack going out to Australia will be really good for him. It will develop him as a person and as a player.

“It’s obviously a very different style of rugby out there on the dry track so it will be a great experience and we’ll look forward to him coming back around August time.

“I’m sure he’ll benefit from it and then he can push forward with us.”

Jack added: “I just want to thank the club, the players and the fans for welcoming me this season with open arms. It’s been a pleasure to play for the club that I grew up watching and I have no doubt the boys will smash the rest of the season out of the park.”
