Wedlake Returns to Albion

Latest News

We are delighted to confirm that winger Robin Wedlake has returned to the club after five years away.

Wedlake played for Albion between 2015 and 2018, when he left to join the Cornish Pirates in the Championship.

He hopped over to the Jersey Reds earlier this year but, after the deeply saddening events for the second division champions, he has been left without a club.

A popular figure in Plymouth’s rugby scene, we’re elated to have Robin back with us as he heads towards his 50th appearance for the club.

Head coach Ryan Lamb said of Robin’s return: “Having Robin on board is a massive coup for us. He’s a proven Championship player; he’s been around the club before obviously as well as a younger player. So it’s great to have someone who knows about the club and the history of the club and has a connection to it, and wants it to kick on.

“So to have someone of Robin’s experience and ability for us, coming in at this time of the season, is fantastic and I can’t wait to get him out on the field.”

“After five years away from Plymouth Albion I couldn’t be more excited about returning to the club where my rugby career properly started,” added the returning Wedlake. “I’m also hugely grateful to the club for welcoming me back after the unexpected events at the Jersey Reds.

“I’ve followed the team since my departure and it certainly looks like an exciting time to be involved with the club on and off the pitch. I look forward to seeing some old faces and getting to know the new members of the squad as well.”
