The Team vs Cinderford

ALBION LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING WAYS

Following the win last weekend away to Caldy, Albion are home at the Brickfields this Saturday to Cinderford RFC and looking for win 6 from 7 games.

Albion made the long trip to the Wirral last Saturday to face Caldy RFC and after a well-managed game Albion came out on top with a 27-3 win.

Albion allowed Caldy RFC to put just three points past them through an early penalty, but despite being down to thirteen men for part of the game, Albion came out eventual winners. Head Coach, Kieran Hallett, commented; “We had lots of possession, but couldn’t turn it into points early on, but we grew throughout the game and controlled possession well. It’s always difficult to lose a player, but to have played with 13 for a period of time could have introduced panic. But the boys remained calm and our Game Managers controlled the game well”

Back at home this weekend in front of the Albion fans, Hallett is looking for his team to control the territory and manage the game well, exactly as they have been doing recently.

Hallett commenting on the upcoming game, said, “Cinderford are a strong team who are very difficult to break down, they have strong organisation and can control territory at times, but if we do what we’ve been doing for the last half dozen games, then we can come out on top.”

The last meeting between the two sides was away at Cinderford in October, where Cinderford nudged the win 15-12, but when asked whether that would have an effect on the way they play this weekend, Hallett said; “Both teams are in a different place now to where they were then, like us, Cinderford have had 3 wins from 4 so far in 2019, so expect this to be an exciting game.”

Hallett also mentioned that the weather forecast this weekend ‘wasn’t great’, so felt this could play a role in how the game is played, but he is urging his team ‘to keep the momentum going’.

As far as the team selection is concerned, the team is largely settled, but there will be a timely return to the bench for Dan Swain, after a period out injured and Rus Tuima is away on international duty after being selected for England U20’s.

The game kicks off at 3pm at the Brickfields this Saturday 2nd February. Ground tickets £15 with under 16’s FREE with a paying adult.
