The Team vs Caldy

Latest News

Following last weeks game against Cambridge, where Albion came out eventual winners with a 29-17 win at home, Head Coach, Kieran Hallett is looking for another great performance from his team this weekend when they travel to the Whirral for their away game against Caldy RFC.

Looking at last weekend’s game, Hallett believes both Cambridge and Albion started off ‘a little cagey’, but once his team knew what they had to do, they went out in the second half and executed their game plan superbly, to seal the game.

Hallett said; “Fair play to Cambridge, we made two errors in the first half which they took advantage of and as a result they banked 14 points.”

Hallett went on to say; “I think we controlled the whole game, but in the second half our game management, often on their 10m line, was outstanding.”

So, with the Caldy game approaching this weekend Hallett is looking for more of the same. The last time the two sides met was at the Brickfields back at the beginning of October 2018, at this stage Caldy had been in great form and topped the table with 4 wins from 5 games.

This didn’t stop Albion taking the honours, coming out on top with a 24-14 win. Head Coach, Kieran Hallett was delighted with the win, saying after the game; “We were very comfortable in that game, when we scored that fourth try it kind of put the game to rest and yeah they came out throwing everything around and loose, but actually we dealt with it pretty well.”

Albion have started 2019 positively, winning 2 out of 3 games so far, but Hallett wants to make sure his team are ready for what lies ahead this weekend, commenting, “It’s important that we back up the great win last week against Cambridge and prove that Ampthill loss was just a blip”.

Hallett added; “The team are really confident and they’re going to Caldy looking for the win. We know that Caldy are a strong team and it’s a difficult place to go, but were really up for the game.”

The side remains pretty much unchanged changed from last week’s win against Cambridge, the only change being at Scrum-half, where Cam Setter is back in at number 9 to replace Joe Snow.
