The Team vs Bishops Stortford: Match Preview

HALLETT’S TEAM ARE FIRED UP FOR HOME WIN

Plymouth Albion are more than ready for the win this week after a disappointing loss away to Cinderford in their last game.

With conditions being out of their control, the team arrived late at the Gloucestershire club and kick off had to be delayed by half an hour to give them time for a very short warm up.

Regardless of that hiccup the boys started well against the wind on a very unsheltered and open Cinderford pitch.

Head coach Kieran Hallett commented, “We dominated territory and possession in the first half, but couldn’t get the points on the scoreboard which was extremely frustrating. We definitely showed Cinderford how to retain the ball playing into the wind on their own pitch.”

However, Albion’s line-outs left a bit to be desired, and an area where improvement needs to be made for them to be successful for the rest of the season.

Kieran went on to say, “I believe that it is important to look at the bigger picture at this stage of the season. Eight points between us and the top of the table is nothing with 23 matches still left to play. We have had a rough patch with injuries and we need to ride this out.”

This week’s opponents, Bishop’s Stortford, suffered a close defeat in their last match against Esher on home turf last week losing by 26 to 29. In much the same way as Albion they have had a rough start to the beginning of the season, and are only one point behind them in the league, losing five matches, three of them being the first three games of the season, and winning three out of the last four.
