Stupple Returns to Albion

Latest News

Plymouth Albion are delighted to confirm that Herbie Stupple will return to the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.

After over a decade of service previously, Herbs took a break from the Brickfields last summer following a broken jaw in pre-season, but will now make a popular return this year.

Herbie made over 200 appearances for the club, establishing himself as an exceptional leader both on and off the pitch.

Herbie returns off the back of an excellent campaign for us last term as we secured fourth – an improvement on fifth the season previous.

Herb’s return will add to the positive forward momentum of the club at present as we look to surge on further in 2024-25.

On his return, Herbie said: “I’m looking forward to returning to the Brickfields. I just needed some time away from high-level rugby and enjoy some time with the family.

“I wasn’t in the right headspace after I broke my jaw at the beginning of last season and I think I let it all get to me as well as a lot of travelling to and from Plymouth for the last 13 years.

“I think the reset has served me well and I have realised I’m not ready to stop competing at a higher level of rugby. I still have a lot to offer and want to get my head stuck back in. My wife and kids are excited for me to return to Albion again.

“I would like to thank Wadebridge Camels for making me so welcome again and igniting my passion for the game. The guys there were awesome and I wish them the best for the coming season.

Head Coach Ryan Lamb added: “It’s fantastic to have Herb back with us. We all know the qualities he brings and he will booster the experience and physicality of our back five. I’m sure everyone will agree it will be brilliant to see him run out at the Brickfields next season.”

Herbie will join the squad ahead of pre-season this summer.
