Scaysbrook Will Head to Coventry at the End of the Season

General   Latest News

Head Coach James Scaysbrook has told Plymouth Albion that he will be moving to Coventry R.F.C. when his contract ends in May.

Statement from Managing Director Max Venables…

“We are obviously disappointed that James is moving on after having such a positive impact in his short time at the club”

“He’s been offered a fantastic opportunity at a very strong, well-organised Championship club and we understand his desire to further his career”

“We want to take this opportunity to thank James for all of his fantastic work so far and we look forward to seeing him go out with a bang in these last few games!”

“We will now begin the process of finding his successor and I am pleased that James will be around to help do so”

Since the new year Scaysbrook has led the team to seven wins from nine games and had this to say about his departure at the end of the season:

“Thank you to everyone at Plymouth for being so welcoming to me for the time I have been here, everyone has been nothing but welcoming, helpful and committed to everything we have been doing to improve the rugby. That obviously includes the players, I’d like to thank them for the commitment and the effort they put in for the time I have been here and obviously it goes without saying that the with the level of commitment and effort that I and the players have put in, I expect myself and the players to maintain that until the end of the season”.

“I think that I said when I first started that the most important things are the desire and work ethic of the players, their willingness to work for one another and a want to improve. Those things are so important in a squad and they have it in spades, you can see on the pitch the effort levels, I suppose what everyone doesn’t see is the effort they put in at training. The players drive to work for one another has always been there. Hopefully, we’ll see the team improve with the remaining games of the season as well!”

“My mind is very much on the here and now and finishing the season!”

All of us at Plymouth Albion are looking forward to working with James for the rest of the season and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
