PLAYER Q&A – George Mills

General   Players

Once a week we will be doing a Q&A with our players to find out what they have been up to in the various lockdowns and what they are looking forward to when the Rugby is back. Next up George Mills!

What’s been the one thing you have missed about a match day at Brickfields?

‘Definitely always a huge buzz playing at home. The fans never fail to create a great atmosphere to run out to. And the beer after is always taste that much better after a win.’

What is something about away days you didn’t realise you’d miss so much?

‘The bus trips are always a great chance to catch up with everyone. Whether it’s Salts moaning about everything and anything, Pully telling us when he’s going to Turkey for his hair transplant or Ducker letting us know how many tries, he’s going to score, it’s all a laugh and it’s good to be around the boys.’

How has the team been able to integrate the new additions to the squad in this peculiar time?

‘It was obviously difficult last year with no consistent training. But everyone definitely slotted in well. Damien and Will created a good atmosphere that I’m sure everyone looks forward to getting back to.’

What is something you’ve tried/started doing again since the season was cancelled that you didn’t think you had time for?

‘I’m now an avid cyclist. When I’m not working, I can be found in full Lycra getting the miles in to find new coffee and cake spots.’

How have you been able to work on Rugby throughout the varies Lockdowns?

‘I always like to keep fit, so along with cycling, I have a small gym in the garage. Like anyone I have good and bad weeks but do try to still keep in shape. Hopefully, the time away from rugby has helped heal the battered body so fingers crossed I feel good when we start training hard again.’
