Once a week we will be doing a Q&A with our players to find out what they have been up to in the various lockdowns and what they are looking forward to when the Rugby is back. Next up, Dan Collier!
What’s been the one thing you have missed about a match day at Brickfields?
‘The atmosphere and the fans are something that you miss dearly on a game day!! Having that excitement and nerves rolled into one going out on the paddock which we call Brickfields with my brothers in arms! it’s a feeling that I truly miss and can’t wait to get back to it!’
What is something about away days you didn’t realise you’d miss so much?
‘I miss the togetherness and the banter that the away days bring on long journeys away but also the calm before the storm of everyone having their heads down and switched on when we are rolling up minutes away from the away teams ground! Then having a few beers after a long weekend of travelling and playing hard at the weekend!’
How has the team been able to integrate the new additions to the squad in this peculiar time?
‘Integrating the new lads has been alright but it’s been a bit difficult for them as they are starting to find their feet and get our plays and set pieces down! Then lockdown hits again! But other than that, they are good lads and will hopefully show their worth in times to come.’
What is something you’ve tried/started doing again since the season was cancelled that you didn’t think you had time for?
‘Well, I’ve been working a bit with my dad fitting kitchens, so I’ve been watching learning and helping him out. And looking to go into carpentry myself.’
How have you been able to work on Rugby throughout the varies Lockdowns?
‘I’ve not been doing too much, to be honest, but the last month I started running and cycling trying to get my old body back in some shape ready for preseason training!’
