Plymouth Albion are excited to announce that former player Will Norton is returning to the club to join next seasons squad after putting pen to paper on a brand-new deal!
Norton, affectionately known as ‘Moose’, has signed a two-year deal after spending the previous season on loan at Cornish Pirates from his parent club Exeter Chiefs.
Exeter-born, Will first played rugby for the youth section at Exeter Chiefs, whilst he was educated at Exeter College. He also made appearances for Exmouth RFC before moving to Cardiff Metropolitan University. Will’s last stint at Albion was from 2016 to 2019 where he became a prolificity high performer!
The 26-year-old kindly answered a few questions for us about his come back!
“Well, I have always enjoyed being part of the team”, Norton explained why he decided to return “it’s always had a good team feel, the boys have always been good and the supporters, the club as a whole is very good so it was a bit of a no brainer with the opportunity to come back and join Plymouth Albion”.
We asked him if he’d spoken to any of the players currently in the squad about next season “Yeah, I spoke to a couple of the boys, just kind of seeing how it’s been with the new coaching staff since I’ve been there. It seems the boys are really happy with how things are going so you know it kind of pushed my decision to come to Plymouth”.
“Well, you know I want to push on playing the highest standard I can”. On what the 6’3’ Prop hopes to achieve over the next two seasons, “hopefully get Plymouth Albion back in the Championship up but most of all do my best to help Plymouth push on as far as they can”.
Lastly, he gave us an insight on what parts of his game he’s improved in his time away “I think I have definitely worked on my scrummage, that’s been the big focus this year at (Cornish) Pirates. And from that is my defensive game as well which I’ve work on quite hard this year”.
He is one of many who have already been signed on for next year and we feel he can be a key part of the squad helping us maintain a high standard of performance in future seasons!
We can’t wait to see Will back at Brickfields
