Mills to leave Albion

Latest News

We can confirm that George Mills has decided to hang up his boots and depart Plymouth Albion ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Millsy joined us in 2016 after spells playing for Hartpury, Cinderford and Newton Abbot, and has since amassed more than 100 appearances for the club.

A sublime flanker, George has established himself as one of the top players in his position in National League 1 over the last seven years.

A driven, passionate, fierce competitor on the pitch, Millsy has also become a fan favourite for his warm, friendly demeanour off it, and he will be missed here at the Brickfields by absolutely everyone who has had the pleasure of working with him and watching him play.

Speaking on Millsy’s departure, head coach Ryan Lamb said: “Losing someone of Millsy’s quality is obviously going to be challenging. He’s been fantastic, not just as a player, but as a leader since I joined the club.

“He has just become a father and has a young family which obviously has to take priority. We wish him and his family all the best and thank him for his long period at the club. We hope to see them again at the Brickfields!”

And now George Mills, in his own words.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to call my time at Albion. Unfortunately, work and family have taken priority and I thank Max, Lamby and Aaron for being so understanding of my decision.

“I have loved my seven years at this club. During that time the squad has been memorable, going into battle on a Saturday with your mates is very special.

“Finally, I would like to thank the supporters. There is no other club outside the professional game with the support Albion have. You guys have helped us with many wins whether it is on the road or at the Brickfields.

“I wish the boys the best for the coming season,

Millsy.”

Thank you for everything George, and good luck!
