Winds of Change are blowing down rugby’s corridors of power

Mindful that Coronavirus is likely to change the face of Club Rugby, Albion’s Executive team have been working at a pace keeping abreast and closely monitor the multitude of meetings, reports and recommendations being voiced by rugby people in high places around the land.

The hard facts say that Gallagher Premiership rugby is up and away in a league of its own. An investment of over £200 million, by private equity firm CVC, securing a reported 27%

equity stake, together with wall to wall TV game coverage confirms the Premiership is moving into a ‘new era’ of professional elite level rugby.

Albion’s future lies in consolidating our position in the second tier of the English Elite Level game. In this respect, we feel confident that Plymouth Albion is currently ahead of the game and intend to stay in pole position.

Our long-term plans involve developing Brickfield into state-of-the-art multi-function venue for rugby and other leading Plymouth Sporting groups. More of that in due course. In the immediate future, we are developing a new refreshing culture of ambition, confidence and ability firmly rooted in our own south-west community talent. To be clear, there is no limit to our aspirations in the pursuit of excellence, but we firmly believe we can achieve this from with by providing a quality environment with top-level coaching, developing human performance facilities and support from within the Ocean City and surrounding community.

The appointment of a Head Coach is a major task we are working on. We have some extremely strong applicants. One has the proven ability and pedigree to be an outstanding leader for us at Albion. He is certainly interested in joining us, but we are struggling to present him with a financial package sufficient to persuade him to relocate to Plymouth.

Negotiations continue with other outstanding applicants. ‘Making Albion Great Again’ is our aim and you can be assured that we are determined to secure the services of the right person for the job and will not be rushed into a rash appointment.

In the meantime, we are promoting our Albion 2020 Heroes crowdfunding opportunity and ask your support in supporting the fund and spreading the word far and wide.
