Huw Taylor Named Plymouth Albion Captain for 2026/27
Plymouth Albion can confirm that Huw Taylor has been named Club Captain for the 2026/27 National 1 season.
Huw will be supported by Dan Pullinger and Jack Oulton, who continue as Co-Captains after leading the squad together last season.
The leadership group reflects the strength and unity within the squad, with all three players working closely alongside the coaching team to maintain standards and support the wider playing group throughout the campaign.
Since joining Albion last season, Huw has established himself as an influential figure both on and off the pitch. His experience at a high level, communication and ability to lead through his actions have made him a natural choice to take on the captaincy.
Speaking about the appointment, Huw said:
“I’m really grateful and excited for the opportunity to be named captain for the 2026/27 season. It’s a massive honour to captain such a prestigious club as Albion, but we’ve got plenty of leaders within the group that I’ll be leaning on to help me through the season.
“I truly believe this club is a top-six Championship club in the making, and it’s important that we start behaving like it and believing it. Pre-season has started really strongly, we’ve added some experience to an already top squad, and that is driving standards across the whole group.
“We’re all looking forward to the next block, where we’ll be able to test what we’ve been doing against some good opposition.”
Dan Pullinger and Jack Oulton will remain central to the leadership group, offering their full support to Huw throughout the season.
Dan said:
“I’ve really enjoyed leading the team over the last three years with Pully. It’s been a privilege to captain a side like this alongside some great lads.
“I think Huw will do a great job taking over the captaincy this year. I’m looking forward to him leading the team to the National 1 title.”
Jack added:
“Huw has been a fantastic leader since joining us last season, leading by example with his actions on the pitch and his communication off it.
“He’s played the game at a very high level, so he has a great understanding of how to manage games and build positive relationships with referees.
“Dan and I are really looking forward to supporting Huw this season. We’re excited to get started, help drive the standards within the squad and work together to lead the team towards what we hope will be a successful campaign.”
The appointment underlines the collective approach within the squad, with leadership shared across a group determined to push Plymouth Albion forward during the 2026/27 season.
