Jarrard Hayler Returns to Plymouth Albion
We are pleased to confirm that Jarrard Hayler will return to Plymouth Albion ahead of the 2026/27 season, becoming the latest addition as we continue to strengthen the squad.
Following the return of Sam Daly earlier this week, Jarrard’s arrival adds further experience and leadership to the group as preparations continue for the new campaign.
A powerful presence in the back row, Jarrard brings experience, leadership, and a unique story back to Brickfields.
Primarily operating as an openside flanker or number eight, Jarrard combines his rugby career with his role as a Captain in the Royal Marines. Balancing elite sport with military service through the Royal Navy’s Elite Athlete scheme, his journey is built on discipline, commitment, and high performance.
His rugby career has taken him across the professional and semi-professional game, with spells at Saracens, Cornish Pirates, Taunton Titans, Dundee, and most recently Hartpury University in the RFU Championship, alongside previous time here at Plymouth Albion.
Alongside his club career, Jarrard has earned significant representative honours. He captains the Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV and has also led the UK Armed Forces side. In 2023 and 2025, he captained the Royal Navy to victories over the British Army at Twickenham, standout moments in his career.
Off the field, Jarrard brings perspective as well as experience. Balancing professional rugby, military service, and life as a new father, he enters the next stage of his career with added motivation and focus. His journey reflects not only commitment on the pitch, but a strong sense of responsibility and leadership away from it.
With Championship experience behind him, Jarrard will return to Brickfields ready to play his part as we continue building towards the next level.
