Eastgate returns to the West

Latest News

Former Albion utility back Connor Eastgate resigns from Watsonians

Having missed the tail end of last term and the beginning of this season, club favourite Connor Eastgate has re-joined Plymouth Albion.

Following a sabbatical playing in the Scottish Super Six competition, he will return to Plymouth in Early November and will be available for selection soon after.

Originally a Fly half, Eastgate has played for Albion in a host of backline positions and spent the previous four seasons impressing consistently with his booming kick and silky hands. Speaking of his return he added ‘I’m excited to be coming back – for me it was to be back in a place where I get the best mix. My family are in Devon, and my partner Liv’s family are also dotted about the city, which is important to us both. To return to the club I spent four enjoyable years at is great. If I’m honest, the end goal of full-time rugby was something that I decided was no longer the ultimate goal of mine, and being back at Albion gives me the best of all aspects of life in terms of rugby, family and progressing off the pitch too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time up in Scotland but I’m now looking forward to coming home. I know the lads and the set-up at Plymouth and feel it’s a better environment for me. I’m a different proposition now and am excited to get my hat in the ring for selection’.

Backs coach Ryan Lamb added “It’s great to have Connor back, obviously he knows and cares a lot about the club and can cover a lot of positions. His experience in Nat One and higher will only add to our squad and we look forward to his return.”

We couldn’t agree more Ryan.

Welcome home Connor!
