Back At The Brickfields for Match Day 19

Latest News

Plymouth Albion return to home action this weekend when they take on Cinderford looking to kerb their poor run of form.

Three defeats in a row have seen the Janners go on their worst run for almost two years, and three weeks ago, they tasted defeat at home for the first time in 2023-24.

The last few weeks have not been easy. The three defeats in succession have seen us slip to fourth behind Birmingham Moseley, with Darlington Mowden Park now level on points with us.

We have managed 29 points over the last three games having scored 39 against Bishop’s Stortford in the opening game of 2024 – a surprise given the sheer amount of pressure applied particularly on Sale’s try line last time out.

Our recent run has not been without positives though. Gabe Mead has excellently slotted back in at Hooker, while Pat Walton impressed on his competitive debut last weekend – there are still more than a few promising glimpses of the future in spite of recent fortune.

Cinderford have not had much more luck themselves of late. They were slammed 57-0 at home by Chinnor at the end of January, before tasting further defeats to Sale and Blackheath – the latter of whom we visit next Saturday.

They have fallen behind Sale and the Leicester Lions as a result, and find themselves 12th in National League 1.

As the Gloucestershire-based outfit proved back in October though, they can be a fantastic side on their day and another stiff challenge for Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Team News:

Ryan Lamb selects his youngest front row in the league this season as Harry Wilkinson returns to the starting line-up as Loosehead Prop, while Jenson Boughton also goes from the start in the front row either side of Mead.

Hallam Chapman is back in the match day squad; he starts in the back row alongside Angus Hodges and Jake Bond. Craig Duncan returns to Full-Back having been away on Navy duty.

Dan Pullinger moves to the bench along with Callum Davies, the young prop returning to the match day squad along with Dan Collier.

Jake Clemson will make his fiftieth appearance for the club on Saturday afternoon.
