Players from Plymouth Albion RFC’s First Team squad delivered some early festive cheer to the children and their families in hospital on Thursday 20th December 2018.
The players visited the Children’s Ward at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth in the hope of putting a smile on the faces of the children and their parents. Head Coach Kieran Hallett was joined by Dan Mugford, Dan Collier, Dean Squire, John Kelly and Teegan Minkley on the visit.
The players delivered bags full of presents to the children, all purchased from the £400 raised by; Rich Butcher & friends from the Derriford Hospital Engineers department, Dave Barrett of Charlie Franks & Tamar Fresh, Tony Wainwright of Wainwright Estate Agents, Dave Porter, Jimmy Daw & Jason of the Kingsman’s Networking Group, Leon Theisinger of Kioo Marketing and last but not least, Liz Venables of Plymouth Albion.
Children were able to meet the players and get pictures with their heroes, as the players tried to lift the spirits of everyone on the ward, including the nurses!!
Head Coach Kieran Hallett commented, “It’s good to come here and be able to do such a lovely thing, especially at this time of year when these families must find things so tough. It really is a humbling experience.”
“There were lots of smiles on the kids face and it seems like everyone’s in a great spirit. We’re really happy to be able to contribute, even if it is just a little bit – it was great to see their little faces light up when they got their presents.”
