We are delighted to announce that there will be two pre-season friendlies between Plymouth Albion and the Cornish Pirates this summer.
The first meeting will take place on Saturday 19 August in Penzance, before we take to the Brickfields seven days later for the return game.
Our visit to Mennaye Field will take place at 2.30 pm, before the return leg at the Brickfields kicks off at 3pm a week later.
It will be the first meeting between the sides since 2018, the Pirates running out 29-12 winners in Plymouth in our final pre-season game against the Championship side.
The clubs have played out 20 competitive games in the last 18 years, with the Pirates coming away with the win in 15 of them, and Albion five – including a double in the 2006-07 campaign.
The teams have been separated by seven points or less in 11 of those encounters, so we have always enjoyed a competitive on-field relationship with our Cornish friends.
Our encounter with the Pirates in 2005-06 attracted a crowd of nearly 6,000 supporters.
Tickets will be available to buy on our website from Friday, 16 June. For gate information at the away fixture, please head to the Cornish Pirates website.
