Albion Take a Point from Old Bath Road

Latest News

Plymouth Albion took a point from Rams on Saturday after a fantastic encounter that lived up to the billing.

Albion made a rapid start when solid play through the phases resulted in Sam Daly going over to give us the lead.

Immense pressure from Rams was seen off by a hard-working and committed Albion defence, and after a period on the back foot, we struck three more points from a well-taken Tom Putt penalty.

The visitors would eventually find a breakthrough of their own at the end of the first half with a converted try that saw the two sides go in with just three points separating them.

Rams spent much of the opening 20 minutes of the second period on the attack and, having been camped near our 22 for several phases, they pounced with their second try of the afternoon to edge them in front.

The away response did not take long though; more powerful pick-and-goes in the Rams 22 piled the pressure on, and Daly would drive over for his second of the game before Putt once more added the extras.

The rollercoaster undulated once more when Rams scored again, but immediately after kick-off, Putt’s penalty snuck us back in front.

Back the other way, the home side took advantage of a quick restart of their own. They won a penalty, and up stepped Fraser Honey to steal a 22-20 win at the death.
