Albion Strengthen Squad with the Arrival of Exeter Chiefs Lock Joe Bailey

Plymouth Albion are pleased to confirm that Joe Bailey has joined the club on loan from Exeter Chiefs, further strengthening the squad for the remainder of the National One season and continuing the positive relationship between the two clubs.

Albion supporters have already seen the impact of recent Chiefs arrivals, with Oscar Beckerleg, Louie Gully and Iwan Jenkins all contributing strongly in recent weeks.

Nick Lilley also featured earlier this season before unfortunately suffering an early injury.

Today we are delighted to welcome Joe Bailey, who will be available for selection when Albion take on Sedgley Park Tigers.

Joe Bailey – A Rising Talent from Exeter Chiefs

Bailey arrives with an impressive pedigree and a reputation as one of Exeter’s most exciting young forwards.

Born in Bristol and playing lock, Bailey captained the Exeter Chiefs U18s, represented England U18s, and later made his England U20s debut against South Africa.

He continued his rise on the international stage in July 2024, scoring a key try in the World Rugby U20 Championship Final, helping England lift the trophy.

Earlier this season, Bailey also produced a standout display in the Premiership Cup against Bristol Bears, earning a Man of the Match nomination for his performance.

His arrival brings physicality, leadership, and real energy into the Albion pack at a crucial stage of the campaign.

Strengthening the Squad, Strengthening the Relationship

With Albion recently parting ways with George Hillson and Torin Clarke, Bailey’s arrival adds further depth and competition within Ryan Lamb’s squad.

His addition reflects the continued growth of the relationship between Plymouth Albion and Exeter Chiefs – a partnership that benefits both clubs and supports the development of outstanding young talent.

With Albion coming into the festive period, some would see this as an early Christmas present for the fans at Brickfields.
