Albion Start 2024 With Victory Over Stortford

Latest News   Match Reports

Plymouth Albion got 2024 off to the perfect start with a 39-26 victory over Bishop’s Stortford at the Brickfields.

Albion started quickly with a try from Jake Clemson, with Connor Eastgate converting. But Stortford grew into the game, and hit back first with a penalty, then with a try to inch 8-7 in front.

Jordan Gott, appearing for the first time after four years away, ran through to regain our advantage, and that was quickly followed by a superb break that saw Jack Oulton grab a try of his own.

Stortford started the second period well, hitting the hosts with a penalty and two tries – one of which was converted – but some fantastic work opened up room for Jesse Lowe to leap over and extend the gap.

More splendid attacking play left Angus Hodges to run through and dart over, before Jake Clemson was illegally thwarted as he looked to reach over, giving us a penalty try.

The win at the Brickfields keeps Albion third after 15 games, six points clear of fourth-placed Rosslyn Park.
