Latest News

Plymouth Albion are delighted to confirm that Hooker Rhys Williams has joined the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Born in Bangor in 1994, Rhys has been at the Cornish Pirates for the last year, scoring three tries in 17 appearance for the Penzance-based side.

Rhys comes to us with plenty of Navy experience under his belt too, and he was part of the 2023 side that secured a first win over the Army since 2010 to claim the Inter Services Championship.

A Royal Marine Commando, Rhys will add plenty of power to the Forwards pack at the Brickfields, and he brings with him a wealth of experience at a high level too.

Speaking on his arrival, Rhys said: “I’m really excited to play for Plymouth Albion. I’ve always heard good things about the club and their future goals.

“I’ve been around playing at the Brickfields a couple pf times as part of the Royal Navy Rugby squad, and I’m looking forward to meeting the lads and the supporters.”

Forwards Coach Aaron Jarvis concluded: “Rhys comes with bags of experience playing in the Championship and being involved in the Navy team for a long time. We’re really looking forward to working with him.

“He’s got a great set piece, he’ll definitely help to drive the standard forward amongst the forward pack with the experience he has.”
