PARSONS RETURNS, STATTON SIGNS AS ALBION ADD MORE CARDIFF QUALITY
Plymouth Albion are proud to announce two exciting backline signings for the 2025/26 season, with Ben Parsons returning to the club and Jack Statton arriving following standout university and county-level campaigns.
Both players have developed through the highly competitive system at Cardiff Metropolitan University, bringing leadership, ambition and serious ability into a growing Albion squad.
Ben Parsons – A Familiar Face Returns
Albion supporters will remember Ben Parsons from the 2021/22 season, when he made a strong impression as an 18-year-old on loan from Exeter Chiefs, playing 19 games across the wing and centre also captaining the Exeter Chiefs U23s
Since then, Ben has sharpened his game at Cardiff Met, becoming a key player. Now he returns to Brickfields permanently, with experience, maturity, and a clear sense of unfinished business.
“I am really looking forward to coming back and joining Albion after my three years at university,” said Parsons. “Having been there previously for a season, I fell in love with the club and how welcoming the fans were. After speaking to Ryan Lamb, I know that the club is heading in a great direction and I cannot wait to leave an impact on that.”
Jack Statton – A New Arrival from Over the Border
Joining alongside Parsons is Jack Statton, a 5’11 centre from Launceston, who arrives with a reputation for calm leadership and consistent impact.
Jack co-captained both Cornwall U20s and England South West U20s, and was a standout for Cardiff Met in this season’s BUCS Super Rugby campaign, helping them reach the semi-finals, the highest level of university rugby in the UK.
“It’s an awesome club that I’ve always followed growing up over the border,” said Statton. “I think Ryan’s got a great vision for the club and I’m really excited for the opportunity to be a part of it and further develop as a player.”
A Backline with Balance, Energy and Depth
Parsons and Statton become the latest additions to a fast-developing backline that includes returning threats like Shea Cornish, Bobby Wigginton, and George Hillson, plus exciting new signings such as Ben Saunders, Henry Sellick, and Harry Legg.
With 29 players now confirmed, the squad is shaping up with real strength and depth across all positions. A few more signings are currently in negotiation stages, and loan options may be explored nearer the season. But the direction is clear, this is a group built to compete and grow in what promises to be a exciting year for the club.
