Albion look to continue good form at Stortford

Latest News

Report by Rob Kershaw / Photography by David Cunningham

Three wins on the bounce, with the best will in the world, was a bit unheard of for Albion last season, but this is a different team entirely.

The squad have been showing their improved integration so far in 2022-23, and proving that they are a team to be reckoned with in the top half of National League One.

Who wins any given game in this division is anyone’s guess, but there was little doubt as to last weekend’s result against Hull, in which the Ocean City boys gained five impressive points.

The 45-5 result was their biggest win of the season so far, and it might even have been a bigger victory on another day.

This weekend, the boys will travel to Hertfordshire to face off against Bishop’s Stortford, who are themselves embroiled in a fascinating mid-table battle.

Just one point separates the two teams in the league, making this a pivotal fixture for Damian Welch’s side.

Stortford have taken four wins so far this year, and the pie is split entirely down the middle, with two coming at home, and two away.

Last season’s meetings:

Last year’s encounters were also split, with Stortford winning 32-19 at Silver Leys, before Albion took the reverse fixture 31-17.
