Albion face Redruth in opening pre-season encounter

Latest News

For the first time since April, our boys are preparing for a match day as they get ready for their opening pre-season fixture of 2023.

After lots of hard work over the summer, our new additions have integrated well with a squad that features plenty of depth and balances experience with youth.

All of our players have displayed a common feature though, that being tireless effort and exemplary work rate as preparations for the 2023-24 campaign have gone on.

We start our collection of summer games in Cornwall tomorrow against a Redruth side that finished seventh in National League 2 West last season, winning 14 of their 26 games.

Nine of those wins came at home, including a whopping 95-7 victory over Newport back in October.

Redruth will provide a good opportunity for Ryan Lamb to assess his new-look squad in Redruth, a game which is followed in just a few days’ time by an encounter with Devonport Services at the Brickfields.

Team News:

A host of summer signings – Jack Wickham, Brad Howe, Archie Hill and Shea Cornish – are included in the starting line-up, along with youth graduate Pat Walton. They are joined in the first XV by exciting youngsters Billy Orchard and Callum Davies.

Tom Cowan-Dickie starts on the bench on his return to Albion, and he is joined by Taine Morgan and Giles Clarke. Dan Goldsmith also sits on the replacement bench after returning from an injury that limited his game time last season. It’s great to see him back!

Jake Bond and Jenson Boughton miss out on the trip following hamstring tweaks in training, but we expect them back soon.
