Albion Add Midfield Power with Loan Signing of Zack Wimbush
Plymouth Albion are pleased to confirm that Zack Wimbush has joined the club on loan, further strengthening the squad as the season continues.
A towering presence in the midfield, Wimbush arrives at Brickfields with valuable Premiership experience and a reputation as one of the most exciting young backs to emerge from the Exeter Chiefs system in recent seasons.
Born in Hong Kong, Wimbush began playing rugby at the age of eight before moving to the South West aged 13 to attend Mount Kelly College in Tavistock, where his development accelerated both academically and on the rugby field.
He continued his education at Exeter College and became a key part of the Chiefs’ Under 18s setup, featuring prominently in the Premiership U18s league and earning recognition as a standout midfield prospect.
Senior Experience and Proven Impact
Wimbush made his Exeter Chiefs debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Bath in 2022 and was brought into the senior squad on a more permanent basis during the 2023/24 season, where he was widely tipped as a future mainstay of the Chiefs backline.
He has also gained valuable experience on loan, previously joining Cornish Pirates in the Championship, where he made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut against Cambridge.
Wimbush has made 27 appearances for Exeter Chiefs across all competitions, bringing both physicality and composure to the midfield.
Strengthening the Squad
Zack will join Iwan Jenkins, Louie Gully, Oscar Beckerleg and Joe Bailey, all of whom have already made a strong impression in an Albion shirt this season. His arrival further underlines the strength of the growing relationship between Plymouth Albion and Exeter Chiefs.
Zack Wimbush is proudly sponsored by Jac The App and will be available for selection this weekend, when Albion supporters can look forward to seeing another exciting young talent.
